forthcoming ... street pop sessions

Street Pop sessions, is a project that set the platform for fashion trends, live music, film and street culture. The sessions will take place on the 27 May 2007 and every last Sunday of the month at Khaya Centre in Dube Village Soweto. Entrance Free from 11:00 – 19:00pm

The sessions will feature a wide spectrum of different artists who each bring their distinct quality flavor of music, fashion, graffiti and film screenings to the market. The sessions will present different urban cultures that youth identify themselves with music they love & listens to and the trends they set for the rest of the country and beyond.

The sessions will also offer youth a platform to sell and promote their artistic materials at the events through the exhibition and stalls space that will be provided, this will encourage youth within the creative industry to be entrepreneurs.

The sessions will aim to create something so genuine that established artists can’t wait to be part of and new artists break a career here. This requires bringing in experienced people from within the music industry in collaboration with people who knows what is “hot. Instead of becoming a “fly-by-night” hype, the project will seek to gain popularity over time and build a steady following as it grows over the years to come.
